These Terms & Conditions apply to piano, organ and music theory lessons provided by Mariusz Kozieł.
By booking a lesson, the student (or, in the case of a minor, their parent or legal guardian) agrees to the following terms.
Booking Lessons
Lessons can be arranged on a weekly, biweekly or occasional basis, depending on availability and the student’s individual needs.
Regular lesson times may be agreed in advance. However, occasional changes may be necessary due to concerts, professional commitments, travel or other circumstances.
A lesson booking is considered confirmed once the date and time have been agreed by both parties.
Trial Lesson
A 30-minute trial lesson is available for €20.
The trial lesson provides an opportunity to meet, discuss the student’s experience and goals, and explore whether regular lessons would be suitable.
Booking a trial lesson does not create an obligation to continue with regular lessons.
Cancellation and Rescheduling by the Student
If you are unable to attend a lesson, please let me know as soon as possible.
Cancellation more than 24 hours in advance
Lessons cancelled or rescheduled more than 24 hours before the scheduled lesson time can normally be rearranged without charge, subject to availability.
Cancellation less than 24 hours in advance
If a lesson is cancelled less than 24 hours before the scheduled time, the full lesson fee may be charged.
However, I understand that unexpected circumstances can occur. In exceptional situations, such as sudden illness or an emergency, we can discuss whether it is possible to arrange an alternative solution.
Missed lessons
If a student does not attend a scheduled lesson without prior notice, the lesson will normally be charged in full.
Cancellation and Rescheduling by the Teacher
Occasionally, I may need to reschedule a lesson due to concerts, professional engagements, travel, illness or other unforeseen circumstances.
Whenever possible, I will inform the student as early as possible.
If I need to cancel a lesson, I will make every reasonable effort to arrange an alternative date and time.
If rescheduling is not possible, no payment will be required for the cancelled lesson, or any payment already made will be credited towards a future lesson.
Holidays and Planned Absences
If either the student or the teacher knows in advance that they will be unavailable, it is appreciated that this is communicated as early as possible.
For students taking regular lessons, alternative lesson dates may be arranged around holidays or planned absences, depending on availability.
Please note that rescheduling is subject to mutual availability and cannot always be guaranteed.
Late Arrival
If a student arrives late, the lesson will normally still finish at the originally scheduled time.
The full lesson fee remains applicable.
If I arrive late due to circumstances within my control, the lost lesson time will be made up where reasonably possible.
Illness
If a student is unwell, particularly in the case of a contagious illness, please do not attend the lesson in person.
Whenever possible, we can discuss whether the lesson can be rescheduled.
If I am unwell and unable to teach, the lesson will be rescheduled or credited towards a future lesson.
Lesson Location
Lessons normally take place at the student’s location in Breda and the surrounding area.
Travel within the agreed teaching area is included in the lesson price.
For locations significantly outside the Breda area, additional travel costs or alternative arrangements may apply. These will always be discussed before confirming the lesson.
Students are responsible for ensuring that a suitable instrument and appropriate environment are available for the lesson.
Organ Lessons
Organ lessons depend on access to a suitable instrument.
If lessons take place in a church or another location where the instrument belongs to a third party, permission to use the instrument should be arranged in advance where necessary.
The student is expected to treat the instrument and the location with appropriate care and respect.
Fees and Payment
Current lesson prices are published on the website.
Payment is made by bank transfer, unless another arrangement has been agreed in advance.
An invoice can be provided for individual lessons or for an agreed series of lessons.
Unless otherwise agreed, payment should be made within the period indicated on the invoice.
VAT
The applicability of VAT depends on the student’s age and the applicable Dutch tax regulations.
Where VAT is applicable, it will be clearly indicated on the invoice.
The teacher reserves the right to adjust the VAT treatment if required by changes in legislation or official tax guidance.
Changes to Lesson Prices
Lesson prices may occasionally be adjusted.
Students taking regular lessons will be informed in advance of any changes.
Any new prices will apply only after reasonable prior notice.
Ending Regular Lessons
Either the student or the teacher may decide to end regular lessons.
Whenever possible, please provide at least two weeks’ notice.
Lessons already confirmed within that period may still take place unless another arrangement is agreed.
Communication
Lesson arrangements, cancellations and practical matters can be discussed by email, WhatsApp or another agreed method of communication.
Please ensure that important changes, particularly cancellations, are communicated clearly and in good time.
Responsibility
The teacher will make every reasonable effort to provide high-quality and professional instruction adapted to the student’s individual level and goals.
However, musical progress depends on many factors, including regular practice, preparation and the student’s individual circumstances. Specific results, examination outcomes, competition results or performance opportunities cannot be guaranteed.
Students are responsible for their own instruments, equipment and personal belongings.
Children and Young Students
For students under the age of 18, communication regarding bookings, payments and other practical matters should normally take place with a parent or legal guardian.
Parents or guardians are responsible for ensuring that younger students are able to attend lessons safely and on time.
Changes to These Terms & Conditions
These Terms & Conditions may occasionally be updated.
The most recent version will be available on this website. Students taking regular lessons will be informed of significant changes in advance.
